The programme

What is Monteeno?

Monteeno is a structured financial education programme for pupils aged 11–18. It provides written and video lessons, interactive games, quizzes and certificates of completion, plus a dashboard where staff can follow pupil progress.

Which ages is it designed for?

Pupils aged 11–18, across three programmes: Basic Financial Literacy (11–14), Intermediate Financial Skills (14–16) and Advanced Financial Mastery (16–18).

Which year groups can use it?

Any secondary year group. Schools normally start with one cohort rather than the whole school, and the Intermediate and Advanced programmes each open with a recap module so pupils joining part-way through are not assumed to have covered the earlier material.

Where can it fit within school provision?

Schools use it in PSHE and personal development, Citizenship, tutor time, enrichment, financial education days, homework and independent study. There is no single intended slot.

Does a teacher have to deliver the lessons?

No. The content is self-contained, so pupils can work through it independently. Schools that want to teach around it can, but nothing requires a teacher to prepare or present material.

Can pupils work independently?

Yes. Pupils sign in, work at their own pace and resume where they left off. Staff can see progress whether or not the work happened in a lesson.

Can we use only part of the programme?

Yes. You can use a single programme with a single year group. Modules run in sequence within a programme, so pupils work through them in order rather than being assigned individual modules at random.

Setting up and running it

How are pupils added?

A member of staff pastes the class register into the Pupils page, one name per line. Monteeno creates an account for each pupil and returns their usernames and passwords to print or download. There is no MIS or SIMS integration.

Do pupils need email addresses?

No. Pupils sign in with a school-issued username. No pupil email address is collected, and the internal address held against each pupil account is on a reserved domain that cannot receive mail, so a pupil cannot be emailed by Monteeno or anyone else.

What if a pupil forgets their password?

A teacher issues a new one from the Pupils page and hands it over. Because pupils have no mailbox, there is no email-based reset for them to get stuck in.

What can teachers monitor?

For each pupil: lessons completed, modules completed, every quiz attempt with its score and whether it passed, game attempts, points and activity streaks. It is a progress and participation view. There is no gradebook and no written-work submission or marking.

What assessments are included?

A short quiz of around 7 questions after each of the 74 lessons, and a longer quiz of around 15 questions at the end of each of the 24 modules. Every quiz has a 70% pass mark and allows up to three attempts, and every attempt is recorded.

What do pupils receive on completion?

A Monteeno certificate for each programme they complete.

Is the certificate a regulated qualification?

No. Monteeno certificates are certificates of completion. They are not accredited or regulated awards and carry no UCAS points or Ofqual recognition.

What devices are needed?

Anything with a modern browser. There is nothing to install and no app to deploy.

Safety and content

Does Monteeno sell financial products?

No. Monteeno is an educational platform. It does not sell investments, credit, insurance or any other financial product to pupils, and it does not earn commission or referral fees from providers.

Does Monteeno contain advertising?

No. Pupils are not shown advertising while learning.

Is there pupil-to-pupil messaging?

No. There is no pupil messaging and no public pupil social feed.

Is this financial advice?

No. Monteeno teaches financial concepts and decision-making. It does not give personal financial advice or recommend products to individuals.

Data protection

What information does Monteeno hold about pupils?

For each pupil account: the name the school enters, the username generated from it, a class or year label if the school supplies one, and a password (stored hashed, never in readable form). Plus the learning record: lessons and modules completed, quiz attempts and scores, game attempts, points and activity streaks.

Monteeno does not collect or store pupil email addresses, dates of birth, postal addresses, phone numbers, photographs or payment details, and does not ask pupils for any of them.

Where is pupil data stored?

In the United Kingdom. Every account and learning record is held in Amazon Web Services’ eu-west-2 region in London. We moved the database there from the United States on 24 September 2026.

That covers the database, which is where pupil records actually live. It does not make every part of Monteeno UK-based: the platform our application runs on is a United States company, and our email, payment and video providers have not confirmed their regions in writing. We would rather tell you that than let you find it during a DPIA.

Every provider is listed individually, with what it receives and where it operates, on the data-protection page.

Who is the controller and who is the processor for school accounts?

Your school is the controller for pupil data it enters, and Monteeno is the processor. You decide which pupils are added and why; we process that data only to deliver the service on your instructions.

Monteeno is a separate controller for its own business records, such as your application and your staff contact details.

Is a Data Processing Agreement available?

Yes. Our data processing agreement is written against Article 28 UK GDPR and covers all of the required processor obligations, with annexes setting out the processing details, our security measures and our subprocessors.

If your legal team would prefer we signed your own DPA, send it over and we will.

Can pupil accounts be deleted?

Yes. Staff can remove a pupil from the roster, and we will delete a pupil's account and learning record on request from the school, and confirm when it is done. Separately, a daily job deletes pupil accounts and their learning records twelve months after the school's licence ends, unless the school has taken out a new one by then.

Where can we see all of this in one place?
On the school data-protection page, which lists every subprocessor, the security measures that exist and the certifications we do not hold. Our school licence terms are published too.

The Founding Schools Programme

What does the 2026/27 Founding Schools licence cost?

Nothing. There is no school licence fee for selected Founding Schools during the 2026/27 academic year, and no card or purchase order is required.

What do you ask from Founding Schools?

Four things: nominate one member of staff as the main Monteeno contact; use Monteeno with at least one pupil cohort or year group during the academic year; allow us to analyse anonymised usage and completion information; and give us structured feedback on the programme. There is no requirement to provide a public testimonial or case study.

What happens after the free year?

There is no obligation to continue. Before the end of the academic year, participating schools that want to carry on will be given details of the school licence available for the following year. We are not setting that price now and will not pretend otherwise.

Can a school stop participating?

Yes, at any point and without penalty. Tell us and we will close the account and delete pupil records on request.

How do we apply?
Through the application form. It takes a couple of minutes and needs no account. We read every application and reply to the school email address you give us.
Who do we contact for help?
Email hello@monteeno.com. Replies come from the founder rather than a ticket queue.

Still have a question?

Email hello@monteeno.com, or apply and raise it with us during the conversation.
